Adult ADHD Therapy
With Doug Sweaney Herrick, LMHC
I’m a therapist who has ADHD too.
I know how much effort and maintenance it can take day to day.
Do you feel like life has more friction for you than it does for everyone else?
Are you tired of wondering why simple things feel so hard?
Many adults with ADHD grow up believing something is wrong with them. Work feels chaotic. Relationships feel strained. You second guess yourself.
ADHD doesn’t go away, but life can feel a lot better when you stop fighting your brain.

"This mind doesn't walk.
It sprints, detours, and discovers."
What ADHD Therapy With Me Is Like
My approach is about adapting your life to how your brain actually works. We look at the messages you’ve internalized over a lifetime and how those messages shaped your identity, confidence, and relationships.
Our work blends depth and practicality. We make sense of shame and self criticism while also building systems that support daily life. Sessions are collaborative and active.
We will think together, experiment, and adjust until things fit.
Modalities I Use
-
Explores how early experiences shaped your sense of self and helps untangle identity from symptoms.
-
Identifies thought patterns that fuel shame and avoidance, then supports clearer decisions and follow through.
-
Looks at how ADHD impacts connection and communication to strengthen relationships.
-
Builds practical strategies for organization, routines, and follow through to reduce daily overwhelm.
We Will Use This To Your Advantage
Therapy helps you build a life that works with your brain and no longer fighting against it

About
Doug Sweaney Herrick, LMHC
My therapy is designed for adults whose brains do not fit the systems they were handed. I bring both clinical training and lived experience into the room, and I treat ADHD as a full life experience, not a checklist of symptoms.
Sessions are energetic, collaborative, and grounded. We will laugh, think deeply, and take the work seriously without making it heavy. Much of what we explore centers on identity, shame, and how to create a way of living that actually feels good.
Outside of therapy, I am a soccer coach who loves running, backpacking, and spending time with my corgi, Boris and cat, Misty. I live in Seattle with my spouse and continue to be curious about how people build meaning in their lives.
Availability: I provide in-person appointments in Seattle, and Telehealth sessions for clients in Washington and Florida.
